Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds (ASPB) is non-for-profit organization acting for the conservation of birds and habitats through active involvement of local communities. ASPB is an Affiliate to BirdLife International in Armenia since 2006 and is a member of IUCN (the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) since 2009. ASPB works with BirdLife partner organizations in the Caucasus and Europe to study and conserve the viable populations of birds, especially those threatened and vulnerable, and areas of strategic importance to birds. The Important Bird Areas (IBA) Program is a core component of ASPB’s activity which aims to identify, monitor sites that provide essential habitat for birds (breeding, wintering, migrating birds), and engage community in the conservation of these sites. ASPB builds its activities at the level of endangered species and sites conservation; environmental education, public outreach, capacity building and promotion of sustainable livelihood.
